Inspections are needed for all work done on new and existing buildings, gas, electrical, plumbing, or mechanical systems.

Backflow prevention assembly tests are required on all new lawn sprinkler systems.  Backflow preventers may be required on commercial buildings.  The cost to schedule a backflow prevention inspection is $2.50.  The inspection and test of the backflow systems costs $125.00 for each system if done by the City.

City zoning ordinances may prevent the construction of structures within certain areas of the city to help protect citizen's health and property values.  A zoning variance may be requested for the city to approve structures in locations that are normally deemed as zoning violations.

The installation or repair of signs or billboards or zoning variances for signage requires a permit from the city.
