Municipal Court
provides a fair and impartial adjudication of traffic citations, code
violations, and misdemeanor offenses committed and filed in the City of
Gonzales. The Court prepares dockets, schedules trial by jury, collects fines,
and issues warrants of arrest. Municipal Court is responsible for establishing
and enforcing policies and procedures that balance the need for cooperation with
other agencies and branches of government. The judge hears the facts, decides
the issues raised by the defendant pleading, decides the issues of law, and
enters a judgment. Court is held every Wednesday at 2:00 p.m.
How to reach us: Municipal Court is held in the City Council Chambers of the Municipal Building at 820 St. Joseph Street. Office hours for the Court Clerk are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., excluding holidays. The judge is not available during regular office hours.
