J. B. Wells Park J. B. Wells Park, located at 2301 CR 197, is a 169 acre park that has a covered pavilion, multi-purpose show barn, covered arena, pratice arena and a hike and bike trail.  There are 319 full recreational vehicle hook-ups.

All events are free for the public except three weeks out of the year.  The first week of June the City plays host to the Wrangler Texas Junior High State Rodeo finals which features the top cowboys and cowgirls in the sixth, seventh, and eight grade throughout the State of Texas.  

There will be approximately 350 contestants that will be competing for the right to represent the State of Texas at the National finals in July.  There will be morning performances and nightly performances throughout the week and the championship round will be held on Saturday night.  This is the second largest jurnior high rodeo in the nation.  A vendor tent that the spectators and contestants can walk through and shop will be set up on the grounds.  There is no charge to the tent, but there is a small cover charge to the performances.  Each performance is about three hours long.

The Youth Rodeo finals will come to town during the week of June21-26.  This is a regional association that expects to bring 150 contestants to the city.

The Texas Youth Rodeo finals are held the week of July 26-July 31.  This is also a regional association that expects to bring 150 contestants to town.  These events have nightly performances covering the ages of six to 18.

The arena also plays host to numerous cutting horse events, team roping barrel racing, playdays, junior high rodeos, high school rodeos, circuses, and even high school graduation.

The multi-purpose use show barn hosts many prospect shows, cattle sales, goat sales and the Gonzales Livestock Show.

The covered pavilion is rented mainly for private functions but also music festivals throughout the year.

The hike and bike trail is a mile limestone path that circles around the Santa Anna Mound.  So if you like to exercise or just take a relaxing stroll amoung the wildlife this hike and bike trail is available.

Come see the events with your family with no cover charges and enjoy a great cheeseburger from the concession stand that is open at all events in the arena.
